Self discharge registrator RSR-01 has key advantages, namely:
- high input impedance, which has little effect on the tested supercapacitor
- as well as a built-in battery capable of supporting the operation of the device for 1 day in case of interrupting of line power.
The operation of the self discharge registrator RSR-01 is based on measuring the voltage at the “+” and “-” terminals. The user connects the supercapacitor under test to these terminals.
The self discharge registrator RSR-01 contains a transistor switch that connects the input terminals of the device to the input of the voltage meter. The connection takes place only at the moment of performing the voltage measurement. When the key is on, the input resistance of the recorder is at least 280 kOhm. After the end of the measurement, the key opens. The input resistance of the device with an open switch is more than 1 GΩ.
A special algorithm automatically adjusts the period between voltage measurements. The measurement period is adjusted depending on the drop rate of the measured voltage.
As a result, the effective input impedance of the PCR-01 recorder is from 1 to 1000 MΩ.
Self-discharge tests are often of considerable duration, for example several months or more. For such a long period, there is a possibility of a power outage. In this case, the PCR-01 recorder includes an uninterruptible power supply circuit. This circuit provides power to the microcontroller of the device from a backup lithium-ion battery. As a result, the device can work autonomously for more than 1 day in case of interrupting of line power.
